Copy of Memo No. 3/10/2010-5FP2/481, dated the 05-07-2011, From Government of Punjab, Department of Finance (Finance Personnel Branch-2) to All Heads of Departments, Commissioners of Division etc.

Sub : Grant of Special Pay/ Special Allowance to the Drivers working in the Departments/officers than the Secretariat officers.

In compliance of the orders Dt: 05-09-2008 passed by Hon'ble Punjab and Haryana High Court in CWP No. 470 of 1987, the Governor of Punjab is pleased to grant special pay/allowance as mentioned in the table below to such to the drivers working in the departments / offices other than the secretariat offices who are also working after hours, holidays and Sunday. All the Heads of Department, Commissioners of Divisions, Registrar, High Court of Punjab & Haryana, District & Session Judge and Deputy Commissioners in the state of Punjab are advised to identify the drivers who are working after working hours, holidays and Sunday.

2. As per direction of the Hon'ble High Court, these orders shall be come into effect w/e/f/ 05-09-2008. Therefore, the special allowance is not to be paid to the drivers who have retired before 05-09-2008 or expired or not in service for any other reason.
3. The staff car drivers posted in project where project allowance is admissible will not be granted this allowance.
4. The existing terms and conditions for grant of special allowance shall, continue to be in force.
5. The Punjabi version of these orders will follow indue course.
